Rear Window - Opening Breakdown from Jason Fraley on Vimeo.

-Hitchcock is telling a story by showing the outside world and what's around the main character before introducing him to the story. It gives you a good look at the set too, and how everything is put throughout the movie.

-I like how they have the noises of the main focuses louder than the outside/background noise and not just blending them altogether making it hard to hear what's happening.

-My own analysis for the movie would be: When Hitchcock made this movie he made sure to get straight to the point of what the main character (James Stewart) does.  He is a photographer who was injured. While he's stuck up in his apartment he watches his neighbors throughout the day. When Hitchcock films James Stewart looking outside at the neighbors, not only does he show what the neighbors are doing, but he also shows how James is reacting to that specific scene. If the ballet dancer was on screen and she bent over he would raise an eyebrow. Or if the newly married couple just got home and they started kissing he would look away then back again. Every scene has a reaction of some sort. Even if it's a background character or an extra- they all react to/in a scene.
The panning shot was used very frequently within this film "Rear Window". This Film technique is a very effective way to show the plot and helps audience understand the movie a little bit more. The main concept of the movie was a man watching his neighbor and figuring our if the neighbor killed his wife. The clip I choses the analysis of the opening and closing shots of the movie. It explains the type of shot and the film techniques that are used and how these techniques help the audience understand whats going on.

Noises: Birds (Pigeons), bells, music (Whistle, jumpy tone) cars, kids

Post-War paragraph: With the ending of the war there are more movies that are being made about the tragedies that the people go through and Hollywood wants to make money and be the first big thing about making a movie on the War or the Bombings. A fun fact: Hollywoods most profitable year in the decade was 1946.

Here is a Post-War film that is taking place during/after the Second World War.

Resolution and aspect ratio: Aspect ratio is the width of an image to the height of the image. A resolution is the total number of pixels on your computer or T.V. screen.

If I were to do the project again I would probably use the Dolly more, and to try to use better lighting.  I would also try and use more sense making transitions/editing for my video.

Aspect Ratio is the proportional relationship between the width and height of an image. Resolution is how many pixels are within the width and height. I had a lot of success with camera work and getting good shots to work with. I also thought my clips were nice and smooth and transitioned well from clip to clip. I could add more effects or be more creative if I were to do this project again.
