How does the use of montage illustrate the intension of directors and what is its effect on the audience?

When Montage is being used Directors are most likely trying to get a point across. When there are a bunch of scenes flashing on the screen at once that means there's more than one thing or event that's going on. Like in a movie when your on the home screen (with the Play, Scene selection, Bloopers, that home screen) and they want to show different scenes in a movie while your waiting to press play, they blur in and out, sometimes two different scenes playing on two different sides of the screen.

For me I chose Titanic because in this film theres a lot of things that go on in the movie. There's love, abuse, death, disaster... If you pay attention you will spot some montage in-between these scenes. There's a part where Jack and Rose are dancing and they slow down the speed the noises echoing while Jack and Rose are bouncing up and down, their bodies moving slower and slower till the scene instantly changes to a more quieter, settle, setting. This is Montage.
